Triethanolamine (TEOA) is a synthetic organic compound with the formula N(CH2CH2OH)3, a colourless to pale yellow viscous liquid that is both a tertiary amine and a triol. It is produced industrially from ethylene oxide and ammonia and used in cosmetics as a pH adjuster and emulsifier.
