Acriflavine (CI 46000) is a synthetic topical antiseptic derived from acridine, available as an orange or brown powder. It is used as a dye and antiseptic agent, and commercial preparations are often mixtures with proflavine. It may cause skin staining and irritation, and the hydrochloride form is more irritating than the neutral form.
