Methylene Blue (methylthioninium chloride) is a synthetic thiazine dye used both as a biological stain in histology and as a medication, primarily to treat methemoglobinemia. It has also been used historically for cyanide poisoning and urinary tract infections. In microscopy, it stains nuclei and other biological structures.
