Is Calcium Lactate vegan?

Calcium Lactate

Vegan Unconfirmed
Vegetarian Unconfirmed

Calcium lactate is the calcium salt of lactic acid, used as a food additive, firming agent, and calcium supplement. It may be produced from fermentation of carbohydrates or by chemical synthesis, and the lactic acid component can be derived from plant or animal sources.

Why unconfirmed?

Calcium Lactate can be either derived from animal, or non-animal sources. The ingredient name itself is identical either way, so the label alone can’t tell you which. Only a supplier declaration can.
