Is Ectoin vegan?

Ectoin is a natural cyclic amino acid derivative (compatible solute) originally identified in the halophilic bacterium Ectothiorhodospira halochloris and found in many other bacteria, where it protects against osmotic, temperature, and radiation stress; it is commercially produced by microbial fermentation.

An ingredient is considered vegan if it contains no animal-derived components at any point in its production.
