Is Ficin vegan?

Ficin is a sulfhydryl protease enzyme derived from the latex of fig trees (Ficus species). It is used as a meat tenderiser, in the food industry, and in some cosmetic formulations for its proteolytic activity.

An ingredient is considered vegan if it contains no animal-derived components at any point in its production.
