Is Gardenia Blue vegan?

Gardenia Blue is a natural blue pigment derived from the fruit of Gardenia jasminoides via enzymatic conversion of iridoid glycosides, used as a food colourant (INS 165) and approved in the US but not currently listed as an EU-approved additive.

An ingredient is considered vegan if it contains no animal-derived components at any point in its production.
