Juglone is a naturally occurring phenolic organic compound (5-hydroxy-1,4-naphthoquinone) found primarily in plants of the Juglandaceae family, notably black walnut (Juglans nigra) and English walnut (Juglans regia). In the food and dye industry it is known as C.I. Natural Brown 7. It is an isomer of lawsone, the active dye compound in henna leaves.
