Propylparaben

Vegan

Propylparaben is the n-propyl ester of p-hydroxybenzoic acid, used as a preservative in cosmetics, pharmaceuticals, and foods to inhibit microbial growth. It occurs naturally in many plants and some insects but is predominantly produced synthetically for commercial use. Due to concerns over endocrine-disrupting properties, it has been banned as a food additive in the EU; it remains permitted at the federal level in the United States, though California has banned its use in food from January 1, 2027.

Also known as 4-hydroxybenzoic acid propyl ester, n-propyl p-hydroxybenzoate, propyl 4-hydroxybenzoate, propyl paraben
