Is Riboflavin vegan?

Riboflavin

Vegan Unconfirmed
Vegetarian Unconfirmed

Riboflavin (Vitamin B2) is a water-soluble B vitamin used as a food colorant, to fortify foods, and as a dietary supplement. It is produced synthetically, by microbial fermentation using organisms such as Bacillus subtilis or Ashbya gossypii, or in rare cases from animal sources.

Why unconfirmed?

Riboflavin can be either derived from animal, or non-animal sources. The ingredient name itself is identical either way, so the label alone can’t tell you which. Only a supplier declaration can.
