Is Mannitol vegan?

Mannitol is a sugar alcohol that occurs naturally in the dried sap of the flowering ash (Fraxinus ornus) and in seaweed. It is also produced synthetically and is used as a sweetener, humectant, and excipient in food and pharmaceutical products.
