Is Sorbitan Palmitate vegan?

Sorbitan Palmitate (Sorbitan Monopalmitate) is an emulsifier produced by reacting palmitic acid with sorbitol, both sourced from vegetable raw materials. It is used as a non-ionic surfactant and emulsifier in food and cosmetic products and is commercially known as Span 40.
