Sorbitol is a sugar alcohol naturally found in many fruits such as cherries, plums, pears, and apples, and commercially produced by catalytic hydrogenation of glucose derived from plant starch (e.g. corn). It is used as a humectant, sweetener, and texturizer in food, pharmaceutical, and cosmetic products.
