Is Yeast vegan?

Yeast is a microscopic unicellular fungus belonging to the kingdom Fungi, distinct from plants and animals. Various yeast species are used in baking, brewing, and the production of nutritional supplements. It is cultivated through fermentation of sugars and is not of animal origin.
