Ellagic acid is a naturally occurring polyphenol found in numerous fruits and vegetables, including pomegranates, berries, grapes, and walnuts. It is the dilactone of hexahydroxydiphenic acid and is used as a colourant (CI 75270) as well as being studied for potential bioactive properties.
