Sucralose is a synthetic high-intensity sweetener produced by the selective chlorination of sucrose. It is approximately 600 times sweeter than sugar and is not metabolized by the body. Commercially known under the brand name Splenda, it is widely used in foods and beverages as a non-caloric sweetener.
